Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might be scratched Friday
Ryan served as an extra during the morning skate, per Tony Brar of Oilers TV, which might indicate that he'll be a healthy scratch for Game 5 versus Dallas on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Ryan has dressed in Edmonton's past 13 playoff contests, recording an assist, 21 hits and four blocks in that span. He's dished out seven hits across four games against Dallas in the Western Conference Finals, but Ryan has also posted a minus-4 rating over that stretch. If the 37-year-old isn't in the lineup versus the Stars, then Sam Carrick will probably take his place on the fourth line.

After tallying at least 10 goals (and 29 points) in each of his first four full NHL seasons, the late-blooming Ryan's productivity tailed off dramatically in 2020-21, thanks in part to a career-low shooting percentage of 5.4. He signed a free agent contract in the offseason with Edmonton, a team that has long been searching for more consistent, competitive play out of its third line. Ryan, who turns 35 in December, will likely get the first crack at centering that unit and should be a good bet to land back in double-digit goal-scoring territory this season.
