Returns in VFL
FGold Coast Suns
August 3, 2021
Day returned in the VFL and could play in Round 21 against Carlton, according to Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull. "(Day) played some restricted minutes in the VFL considering the circumstances on the weekend."
ANALYSIS
Day hasn't played in three weeks due to a foot injury and will look to return for his seventh game of 2021.
Brandon Ellis
Available for selection
MGold Coast Suns
August 3, 2021
Ellis will be available for selection in Round 21 against Carlton after recovering from a hamstring injury, according to Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull. "(Ellis has) had a couple of weeks in rehab now and trained with the group fully yesterday so we anticipate he'll train fully tomorrow and then be available for selection."
ANALYSIS
Ellis missed two rounds with a hamstring injury and has now completed his recovery. A dominant 41-disposal effort in his last full game against GWS means Ellis returns another big gun for a Suns team that was demolished by Melbourne in Round 20.
Brayden Fiorini
23 disposals, game-high 11 marks
MGold Coast Suns
August 1, 2021
Fiorini accumulated 23 disposals, 11 marks, six tackles, three clearances and a single goal assist Saturday as Gold Coast fell to Melbourne 128-30 at Marvel Stadium.
ANALYSIS
Fiorini catalogued his lowest disposal total since June 19 on Saturday, but countered that by matching a career-high as the contest's leader in marks. The 23 year-old continues to put up strong numbers on a team that seems to have mailed in the 2021 season long ago and heads into a Round 21 match-up with Carlton the Suns' No. 2 in fantasy score per appearance (109.00 points; with a minimum of five games played)
Touk Miller
Rare bright spot in drumming
MGold Coast Suns
August 1, 2021
Miller acquired 34 disposals, 10 tackles, six clearances, two marks and a single behind Saturday as Gold Coast fell to Melbourne 128-30 at Marvel Stadium.
ANALYSIS
In a game in which Gold Coast, per Michael Whiting of AFL.com, showed "little to no fight," MIller proved a bright spot, pacing the Suns in touches, topping all players in clearances and tying Melbourne's Jack Viney as the match leader in clangers (8). The 25 year-old now sets his sights on a Round 21 match-up with Carlton looking to an extend a streak of 110+ fantasy point showings to 10 and make up ground on Western's Marcus Bontempelli as the favorite to win this year's Brownlow Medal.
Brayden Fiorini
Saturday's contest postponed
MGold Coast Suns
July 30, 2021
Fiorini and Gold Coast won't play Saturday against Melbourne after the match was postponed, Mitch Cleary of the AFL's official site reports.

Fiorini was dominant in Round 19, but the team will be unable to play Saturday due to COVID-19 concerns in Queensland. It's not clear when the match could be made up.
Oleg Markov
Out three weeks
DGold Coast Suns
Hamstring
July 27, 2021
Markov is expected to miss three weeks with a hamstring injury, according to Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull.
ANALYSIS
Markov suffered the injury early into the Round 19 loss to Brisbane and he'll now have a tight window to return before the home-and-away season ends. In 17 games so far, Markov has averaged 16.6 disposals and 6.3 marks per game.
Jeremy Sharp
Another solid performance
MGold Coast Suns
July 24, 2021
Sharp scored one goal to go with 31 disposals (17 kicks, 14 handballs) and made nine marks during Saturday's 120-71 loss to Brisbane in Round 19.
ANALYSIS
Sharp has been one to watch over the last two games as he's recorded 61 disposals and 19 marks to add another fantasy dimension to a deep Suns midfield. Given that he was able to reproduce last week's efforts in this game, Sharp is probably worth the attention for a little longer if he can keep up his possession numbers
Brayden Fiorini
Stellar despite loss
MGold Coast Suns
July 24, 2021
Fiorini recorded 41 disposals (19 kicks, 22 handballs) and recorded eight marks during Saturday's 120-71 loss to Brisbane in Round 19.
ANALYSIS
Fiorini has been exceptionally impressive during just four appearances this season and topped it off with a strong showing against the Lions. Even if his price rises after this game, Fiorini adds another dynamic option to pick from in an inconsistent team.
Oleg Markov
Goes down with hamstring knock
DGold Coast Suns
Hamstring
July 24, 2021
Markov suffered a hamstring injury during the Round 19 loss to Brisbane, according to the AFL.com match report.
ANALYSIS
Markov was already coming back from a calf injury and now has a new muscular issue. It's unclear how long this could keep him out just yet.
Lachie Weller
Listed as questionable
MGold Coast Suns
Concussion
July 20, 2021
Weller (concussion) is listed as a test for Round 19 against Brisbane.
ANALYSIS
Weller hasn't played in a month and still needs to train well in order to prove his fitness for this game. With just one game over 20 disposals since Round 4, Weller doesn't hold the highest value.
Oleg Markov
On track to play
DGold Coast Suns
Calf
July 20, 2021
Markov (calf) is listed as a test to return in Round 19 against Brisbane, according to Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull. "(Markov) is going really well and ran well on the weekend, we were pretty conservative with that decision in terms of resting him. We anticipate that he'll train fully this week and be available for selection.
ANALYSIS
Markov missed Round 18 with a calf issue but it doesn't seem to have hampered him in any serious way. At his best, Markov can contribute high-end value for a defender, though he's scored no more than 79 points in his last five games.
Sam Day
Out 1-2 weeks
FGold Coast Suns
Foot
July 20, 2021
Day (foot) will miss the next one-to-two weeks, according to Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull.
ANALYSIS
Day picked up an injury before Round 18 against the Western Bulldogs and needs a little time to work on his fitness. He's played in six matches this season, scoring three goals.
Nick Holman
Out after surgery on abs
FGold Coast Suns
Abdomen
July 20, 2021
Holman underwent a procedure on his abdomen after Round 18 against the Western Bulldogs and his timeline has yet to be established, according to Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull.
ANALYSIS
Holman has been in solid form with three goals scored and 16 tackles made over his last two matches, but now has to wait and see how his status is assessed.
Brandon Ellis
Out 2-3 weeks
MGold Coast Suns
Hamstring
July 20, 2021
Ellis is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with a low-grade hamstring injury, according to Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull.
ANALYSIS
Ellis scored over 100 fantasy points in two straight games before suffering this injury, which should keep him out until early-August. As one of a number of solid fantasy midfielders on the Suns, someone else should be able to fill the gap left by Ellis quite nicely.
Brandon Ellis
Subbed out with hamstring injury
MGold Coast Suns
Hamstring
July 17, 2021
Ellis suffered an apparent hamstring injury Saturday as Gold Coast fell to Western 90-79 at Metricon Stadium, the Herald Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Ellis left Saturday's game in the first quarter with a suspected hamstring injury and was replaced by medical sub Rory Atkins. No word yet on the seriousness on the veteran's midfielder's status heading into a critical Round 19 match up with Melbourne.
Jeremy Sharp
Mark leader in loss to Western
MGold Coast Suns
July 17, 2021
Sharp collected 30 disposals, 10 marks and a pair of tackles Saturday as Gold Coast fell to Western 90-79 at Metricon Stadium.
ANALYSIS
Sharp put up personal-best numbers in Saturday's loss to Western, setting career-highs not only for kicks (24) and disposals, but also marks and rebound 50s (7). That ultimately saw the 19 year-old top 100 fantasy points for the first time in six total AFL appearances and leaves him currently averaging 81.2 points a game since making his season-debut for Gold Coast back in Round 15.
Touk Miller
11th-straight game with 30+ touches
MGold Coast Suns
July 17, 2021
Miller gathered 38 disposals, eight clearances, seven tackles and two goal assists and marks each Saturday as Gold Coast fell to Western 90-79 at Metricon Stadium.
ANALYSIS
A combination of 11 kicks and a career-best 27 handballs left Miller the match leader for disposals on Saturday while his seven tackles tied Western's Josh Dunkley for a game-high. The 25 year-old also recorded multiple goal assists for the first time since a Round 19 loss to Essendon back in 2019. The standout at midfielder has now recorded 30+ touches in each of his last 11 appearances and heads into a crucial July 24 match-up with Melbourne ranked seventh in the AFL for total disposals (501) and sixth in disposals per game (31.31).
Oleg Markov
Out with calf injury
DGold Coast Suns
Calf
July 16, 2021
Markov will miss Round 18 against the Western Bulldogs due to a calf injury.
ANALYSIS
Markov had some impressive performances early in the season, but a run of average games ends with him needing a week to rest up. He's averaged 17.6 disposals and 6.6 marks per game in 2021.
Sam Day
Out with foot injury
FGold Coast Suns
Foot
July 16, 2021
Day will miss Round 18 against the Western Bulldogs due to a foot injury.
ANALYSIS
Day had scored twice in the last game against GWS but won't be able to play this time around. If he can produce similar results when next available, Day could hold good value as a discount target.
Noah Anderson
Close to return
MGold Coast Suns
Hand
July 13, 2021
Anderson (fractured hand) is listed as a test to return in Round 18 against the Western Bulldogs.
ANALYSIS
Anderson hasn't played in a couple of weeks after undergoing surgery and should be back by next week at the latest. At his best, Anderson can easily top 30 disposals in a game and could be up to the task for replacing the lost production from Hugh Greenwood (knee), who's now out for the season.
Josh Corbett
Available for selection
FGold Coast Suns
July 13, 2021
Corbett has been declared available for selection in Round 18 against the Western Bulldogs after overcoming a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Corbett has only played eight times all season and needs to get into a rhythm before offering much in fantasy, as he did put up a solid stretch with nine goals scored in his first three matches of the season.
Lachie Weller
Out with concussion
MGold Coast Suns
Concussion
July 13, 2021
Weller suffered a concussion in the VFL and won't be available in Round 18, according to Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull.
ANALYSIS
Weller just returned from a hamstring injury but will now be out for at least this weekend's game against the Western Bulldogs. His averages of 18.5 disposals and 5.5 marks per game make for solid production on occasion.
Hugh Greenwood
Out with MCL injury
MGold Coast Suns
Knee - ACL
July 13, 2021
Greenwood suffered a ruptured an MCL instead of a torn ACL during Round 17 against GWS, according to Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull. He's still out for the season.
ANALYSIS
Greenwood fortunately shouldn't miss any of next season, though he won't play any more in 2021. Until now, he'd had a solid season with 17.5 disposals and 8.6 tackles made per game through 15 appearances.
Chris Burgess
Doing well as ruck
RGold Coast Suns
July 11, 2021
Burgess recorded 17 disposals (16 kicks, one handball) and made 38 hitouts during Sunday's 65-64 win over GWS.
ANALYSIS
Burgess has increased his ruck duties over the last two games and it's seen his value increase substantially. From teams outside the finals, Burgess can become one of the better rucks available if he and his team keep up their current run of form.
Brandon Ellis
Collects 41 disposals in win
MGold Coast Suns
July 11, 2021
Ellis logged 41 disposals (12 kicks, 29 handballs) and made six marks in Sunday's 65-64 win over GWS.
ANALYSIS
Ellis had his best possession game of the season on the back of a solid effort in the previous match against Richmond. After Hugh Greenwood's potentially serious injury, Ellis is worth monitoring over the rest of the season.
