Back
May 11, 2021
Gunston (back) will be a late assessment for his availability in Round 9 against North Melbourne, according to Physical Performance Manager Luke Boyd. "We're going to investigate a bit further over the next 24 hours as to why that might have occurred, but we'll just see how he settles down across the course of the week and make an assessment as to whether he's going to be available to play this weekend."
ANALYSIS
Gunston has only played during a brief appearance in Round 8 this season and will need to full regain his fitness to prove his fantasy ability. Last season, he was much more impressive with 31 goals and 68 marks in 16 matches.

Gunston was a late scratch for Round 8 against the West Coast Eagles on Saturday due to back spasms.
ANALYSIS
Gunston returned from offseason back surgery to make his season debut last week in Round 7, though it's unclear if the spasms are related to that procedure. Dylan Moore will enter the lineup in his place for Hawthorn.

Back
April 27, 2021
Gunston will be a test after completing his recover from offseason back surgery, according to Physical Performance Manager Luke Boyd.
ANALYSIS
Gunston won't have a decision made on his status until closer to Saturday's Round 7 game against Saint Kilda, but it seems like his return is a formality at this point. He scored 31 goals in 16 games during the 2020 season.
Out for first month

Back
March 4, 2021
Gunston has already been ruled out of the first month of the regular season with a back injury, according to Mitch Cleary of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Gunston scored 31 goals in 2020 but only collected 181 disposals, which shows that forwards who end up with the most goals aren't going to provide top-tier fantasy value. At the least, there's no need to worry about what Gunston can do as he may not play until late April at the earliest.
