NFL Waiver Wire: Week 14 Pickups

NFL Waiver Wire: Week 14 Pickups

This article is part of our NFL Waiver Wire series.

The Lions get into the win column. The Rams and Bucs roll, and there weren't any huge upsets around the league in Week 13. There were also few major injuries, so the waiver wire is pretty quiet this week as we head into fantasy playoffs. It's also the last of the bye weeks with the Colts, Dolphins, Eagles and Patriots off. Let's look at who might be available.

QUARTERBACK

SECONDARY TARGETS

Teddy Bridgewater, DEN - Teddy hasn't put up great numbers this season, but he's an eight-point favorite at home this week against the Lions. Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Noah Fant are solid and this pick is a matter of betting on them rather than Bridewater's ability. Don't go nuts, but Bridgewater should be on everyone's radar this week. FAAB: $1-$2

HAIL MARY

Jake Fromm, NYG - Daniel Jones is banged up and Mike Glennon is dealing with a concussion. That means Fromm could be in line to start this week against the Chargers in what should be a high-scoring matchup. After being signed off the Bills' practice squad just last week, it's doubtful Fromm has a full grasp of the offense, but he has weapons to help him. There's a Jake Fromm State Farm joke here, but I'll pass on that. FAAB: $1-$2

RUNNING BACK

PRIMARY TARGETS

Rhamondre Stevenson, NE - Damien Harris pulled up with what appeared to be a hamstring injury on Monday night and likely will miss some time recovering. Stevenson

RUNNING BACK

PRIMARY TARGETS

Rhamondre Stevenson, NE - Damien Harris pulled up with what appeared to be a hamstring injury on Monday night and likely will miss some time recovering. Stevenson was a volume monster in relief, rushing 24 times, and will get early down and goal-line work. Look for specials teams ace Brandon Bolden to provide respite for Stevenson when he needs a breather. Stevenson is 61 percent rostered on Yahoo, so chances are he's not available; if he is, he is the top waiver-wire claim this week. FAAB: $8-$16

SECONDARY TARGETS

Sony Michel, LAR - I don't know that Darrell Henderson will be out again this week, but Michel is one of the more capable backups in the league. He rushed for 121 yards Sunday in a blowout and scored too. Henderson (thigh injury) should be back soon, but he likely won't get a full workload when he does return. FAAB: $3-$6

WIDE RECEIVER

SECONDARY TARGETS

Dede Westbrook, K.J. Osborn, MIN - It looks like Adam Thielen might miss some time with a high-ankle sprain, leaving both Westbrook and Osborn to benefit. Osborn is definitely the favorite add between the two, but Westbrook will see increased snaps while Thielen is out. Target Osborn, but Westbrook isn't a bad consolation prize. FAAB: Osborn - $3-$6; Westbrook - $1-$2

HAIL MARY

Jalen Guyton LAC - This is a good game to target for fantasy purposes as the Chargers are 10-point favorites and at home. Guyton had 4-4-90-1 on Sunday and has a rush attempt in two of the last three games. The Giants are 18th against the position and might be a bit road weary after losing in Miami on Sunday.

TIGHT END

SECONDARY TARGETS

Ricky Seals-Jones, WAS - Logan Thomas is hurt again and RSJ should be back in the mix this week as the primary tight end for the Football Team after missing three games with a hip injury. Rookie John Bates would fill the top role if Seal-Jones isn't ready to return. The schedule plays out nicely for either tight end as Washington faces Dallas and Philadelphia the next four weeks — both teams struggle at defending the tight end. FAAB: $3-$6

DEFENSE

SECONDARY TARGETS

Los Angeles Chargers - I mentioned Jake Fromm and now I'm going to the opposite end of the spectrum and recommending the defense he'll face this week. I'm not sure how much of the offense Fromm has picked up switching teams so recently, and he's on the road, which won't help either. The Chargers have a great offense and should put up points, putting Fromm in a position where he'll have to throw. That should lead to turnovers and possibly a pick-six for Los Angeles. FAAB: $3-$6
