Inks deal with Carolina
LBCarolina Panthers
March 15, 2024
The Panthers signed Chaisson to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After spending the first four years of his career with the Jaguars, the 2020 first-round pick is now headed to Carolina. Chaisson appeared in 26 games (no starts) over the past two seasons, recording 23 total tackles, including 3.0 sacks, while also defending one pass. It's safe to say that the 24-year-old underwhelmed in Jacksonville, but he could very well have the chance to compete for a starting job in the Panthers' linebacker corps this offseason.

Could be traded during camp
LBJacksonville Jaguars
May 21, 2023
Chaisson is a candidate to be traded during camp, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.
ANALYSIS
Chaisson has underwhelmed since the Jaguars drafted him in the first round in 2020, and Jacksonville unsurprisingly declined the linebacker's fifth-year option earlier this offseason. Any team hoping to unlock his potential through a change of scenery likely wouldn't have to part with much in a trade, and acquiring him would be a low-risk proposition because Chaisson's contract is up at the end of the season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2021
2020
Chaisson played in 16 games as a rookie for the Jaguars in 2020, but he didn't deliver much production with 19 total tackles and one sack in 568 defensive snaps. The defense is expected to be improved in 2021, so the first-round pick should begin the season in a better situation to succeed.
The 21-year-old had 6.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss during his final season at LSU, and he was selected with the 20th overall pick by the Jaguars in April's draft. Chaisson is the expected replacement for Yannick Ngakoue, who received the team's franchise tag in March but was at odds with the front office. Chaisson is now poised for a significant role on Jacksonville's defense after Ngakoue was finally traded to the Vikings in August.
