Departs from Chicago
Jackson was released by the Bears on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Jackson posted a career-low 37 total tackles in 2023, his seventh NFL season, all with Chicago. The 30-year-old made the Pro Bowl in 2018 and 2019 and was well on his way to another successful season in 2022 before suffering a season-ending foot injury Week 12. The veteran safety will now have an opportunity to seek a career resurgence elsewhere ahead of the 2024 season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be suited for Philly
Jackson, who was recently released by the Bears after seven seasons, could be a good fit with the Eagles given his past experience with new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, Tim McManus of ESPN.com suggests.
ANALYSIS
Jackson's release was largely for cost-cutting reasons, with the veteran safety still reasonably productive when on the field in 2023. McManus notes Fangio was the Bears' defensive coordinator when the team drafted Jackson in 2017, and he coached him for two full seasons while helping Jackson to his first Pro Bowl nod in 2018. The Eagles also had trouble with their safety play a year ago, and Jackson is unlikely to command a large salary due to three consecutive injury-shortened seasons.

Prior to missing the last five weeks of last season due to a Lisfranc injury, Jackson fell just two tackles shy of the career-best 82 that he recorded in 2020. His playmaking also returned, as he thrived in new coach Matt Eberflus' defensive system to the tune of four interceptions and two forced fumbles. While Jackson wasn't present at the start of OTAs, he's expected to be ready for the upcoming campaign, when he again will be viewed as a top IDP option among safeties.
