Struggles continue in Vegas
MiddleweightUFC
January 13, 2024
Hawes lost to Brunno Ferreira via KO (punches) at 4:55 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Long on talent and short on performance, Hawes has simply never been able to put it all together. Having now suffered his third straight first-round knockout defeat, his time with the UFC could potentially be coming to an end. Phil has legitimate power and is extremely explosive, particularly in short bursts, but his complete inability to eat a shot has been his undoing of late in his run with the company. Ferreira finished him with a left to the temple and a couple unnecessary follow-up shots. If this is indeed the end, and Hawes' reaction after the fight certainly made it seem that way, Phil drops four of his last five with the company after winning four of his first five.

Hawes will take on Brunno Ferreira at UFC Vegas 83 on Jan. 13, AgFight reports.
ANALYSIS
Hawes will be looking to bounce back from a tough showing where he was knocked out in Round 1 against Ikram Alikserov in May. The same is the case for Ferreira who was finished off in Round 1 by Nursulton Ruziboev in July.
Routed in native New Jersey

Hawes lost to Ikram Aliskerov via KO (punches) at 2:10 of Round 1 at UFC 288 on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.
ANALYSIS
Entering having lost two of his past three fights on the heels of a four-fight winning streak, Hawes was obliterated. Phil appeared to be holding his own, at which point he ate a two-shot combination from Aliskerov which knocked him out cold before he even hit the mat. It was a truly disastrous result for Hawes in front of friends and family in his native New Jersey. Now 34 years of age, Phil has legitimate power in his hands, but his lack of durability has always been his downfall. Hawes will likely be fighting for his job his next time out.

Hawes fill face off against Ikram Aliskerov in a middleweight matchup at UFC 288 on May 6, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Hawes has cooled off a bit following a hot start to his UFC run, as he's lost two of his last three fights, with both defeats coming by way of first-round stoppage. He'll get a chance to bounce back against Aliskerov, a 30-year-old making his official UFC debut after a first-round submission on Dana White's Contender Series. Hawes, statistically, has solid defensive wrestling numbers, which will come in handy against a Russian opponent whose only pro loss was at the hands of top contender Khamzat Chimaev.
Falls to Roman Dolidze
MiddleweightUFC
October 30, 2022
Hawes lost to Roman Dolidze via KO (punches) at 4:09 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This is the exact type of fight Hawes could not afford to lose, especially as a -180 favorite. Hawes landed an early takedown, but that eventually led to Dolidze clamping on a kneebar which left Hawes compromised the rest of the way. He worked his way back to his feet only to blitzed by his opponent and quickly stopped. Hawes absorbed some scary shots prior to the finish in addition to the knee issue. He's better than his 4-2 record in his last half-dozen fights would lead you to believe, but time isn't on his side considering he will be turning 34 years of age in early-January.
Set to fight Dolidze
MiddleweightUFC
August 10, 2022
Hawes is scheduled to take on Roman Dolidze in a middleweight bout at a UFC event on Oct. 29, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Hawes most recently took down Deron Winn via Round 2 TKO on June 18, in Austin. The 33-year-old American will look to keep his positive momentum going when he takes on Dolidze in October.
