2024 Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
The Texans were questioned for trading up significantly in the draft to select Anderson third overall in 2023, but his production in his rookie season certainly suggests that deal will work out for the team. Even after playing the final quarter of the campaign at less than full strength, he finished 22nd in the league with 59 quarterback pressures (per PFF) while also playing more than serviceably against the run. With another year to hone his craft and prepare for the rigors of the NFL schedule, we should expect Anderson to take another step forward from his award-winning rookie campaign. Read Past Outlooks
Honored for strong rookie season
Anderson was named the Defensive Rookie of the Year on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Texans drew plenty of attention for aggressively trading up to the third pick in the 2023 Draft to select Anderson, though he certainly delivered in his first season. Despite missing two games, Anderson still tallied seven sacks and 45 tackles while playing 590 defensive snaps. Anderson's role should continue to grow, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see his production take a step forward in 2024.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Preparing thoroughly for '24
Anderson, who earned a Pro Bowl nod and won the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2023, has been preparing for 2024 through a variety of methods that includes consultation with veteran star pass rushers, Coral Smith of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The star defensive end already made quite the statement as a rookie, but Anderson has worked all offseason to be even better in 2024. The 2023 third overall pick has gone back to watch plenty of his own tape, but he's also consulted and trained with reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett and new teammate Danielle Hunter, with whom he's already developed a quick connection in the classroom and on the practice field in OTAs.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
No player acquisition during the Texans' offseason created the level of buzz that Anderson did. After selecting quarterback C.J. Stroud with the second overall pick in April's draft, Houston boldly traded up from 12th to third to select Anderson. At Alabama, Anderson was the type of defensive end for whom opponents needed to scheme. The two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year winner steps immediately into an edge rusher spot for Houston, which had issues getting to the quarterback and stopping the run in 2022. Anderson should help solve the first issue.
